Hey Mike, I recently tripped over the same problem. But this was because of an input tag with an id of author conflicting with a meta tag with the same name. IE users could not submit my comment or contact forms because a client-side input validation script was checking the meta tag for a value instead of the input tag. All builds of Mozilla, IE Mac, Safari, all of them got it right. But not IE PC.

<a href="http://www.shauninman.com/mentary/past/id_vs_name_and_ie_pc.php" rel="nofollow">http://www.shauninman.com/mentary/past/id_vs_name_and_ie_pc.php</a>

I use Ctrl+W (or Apple+W) when my hands are on my keyboard. However, I use the mouse with my left hand, and both of those combinations are more left-hand oriented, so if my left hand is on the mouse, it's far easier for me to middle-click the tab.

To each their own though! :)

I recommend ^W to close the window. Faster than targetting the tab.

This keeps the middle-click in page function of google searching on your buffer.
