I came back to New Jersey to cast my vote in the 2008 election. After 15 minutes in line, I was able to cast my vote. And then I waited.

This is an historic event. I literally have tears in my eyes. I have never been so proud of this country in my entire life. I hope that President-Elect Obama governs as well as we all hope he will.

Thank you to everyone who participated today, regardless of for whom you voted. Smile and hold your head up high, America. You did good.

Raleigh Races

My flight last night to Raleigh-Durham was over an hour late, so to make up for it, Southwest comped us all free drinks & food. It was an overwhelmingly nice gesture, particularly as airline after airline announces cutbacks, higher ticket prices, and a-la carte pricing for everything from checked bags to on-board pillows.

The attendants single-handedly turned a very annoyed group of fliers into a very relaxed, chatty, jovial group, which is something not easily accomplished. I was impressed, and it actually made me (briefly) forget about the demeaning way in which we all had to line up by number to board the plane, as though we were in kindergarten.

Today: TDI racing, Flying Saucer, and general relaxation.

In memoriam of Mr. Wallace, I’m re-reading Consider the Lobster.

This is a very sad time indeed, America just lost one of her greatest literary figures. If you haven’t read any or all of Mr. Wallace’s works, I suggest you make your way to your local bookstores, which will likely be running discounts on his works.

Well, here it is, finally, my weblog at Mike Palumbo.com. I’ve kept several different weblogs in several different spots over the years, but finally I am moving almost all of my writing, etc., to this location. I will be slowly but surely back-porting my more readable entries from my other blogs to this one, please bear with me as I make the transition. And yes, I’m aware that this page looks ugly as all hell right now, forgive the tacky default template.

Everything will come together soon.
