The eXPerience sucks.
Jake Howlett blogs about how much he loves the new Windows XP look and feel, especially in reference to how IE6 handles HTML form widgets.
I call BS on that.
Had Jake tried using a dark background for his test screenshots, he would have noticed how terrible those fancy new XP widgets look when they aren't up against a white background.
Eww! Look at those corners! They made rounded buttons, and didn't make those pixels in the corners transparent. On top of that, check out that row of gray pixels on the bottom...horrible.
Complete half-assery. I cannot believe they put effort into designing a new look for the OS widgets, and never thought to test it against a dark background, like the High Contrast schemes that come with the OS! Of course, this shouldn't surprise me, given the other things they started but never finished in XP.
