UGH!
I finally sat down & took the time to finish the conversion to WordPress that I half-assedly started 2 years ago. Although I had WP running, the indexes of the site were all in MovableType. It was a painful move. I couldn’t export my MT entries at first because of the sheer volume of trackback spam I had…over 22,000 entries. I wound up having to drop the entire table in MySQL.
Once I finished that, I did the export, backed up my necessary stuff, and blew the old install away. Of course, I’m an idiot and didn’t realize that MT does not, I repeat, does not back up your images! Just the text of the entries. So when I removed the old MT install, all of my images went with it, as the removal blew away the entire archives folder.
I have backups of all of these, but on my home computer, not here, which means the site is fairly broken for the time being. I can recover almost everything easily, I’m sure, but one or two things might be a pain in the ass. Oh well. At least I finally finished the conversion. Now I just need to set up the permalink redirects & fix my slugs, and I’m all set.
